how do i activate segments from my upstox mobile app?
we have updated the app to give you a better experience
if you’re using an older version of the upstox app, read this.
if you’re using the updated version of the upstox app, read this.
when you open an upstox account, the equities segment and bse mutual funds are activated by default. so, you can start investing and trading in them instantly. however other segments such as futures & options (f&o), currencies (cur), and commodities segments (mcx), are optional. and in order to activate them, you need to submit sufficient income proof because each of these segments has its own trading rules, timings, and products.

1) login to the upstox app:
https://upstox.com/upstox-pro-mobile/
2) once you have logged in, click on the menu on the top left corner [on the upstox app].
3) click on 'activate f&o, mcx'.
on the upstox android app, it will look like this -
4) click on the ‘activate segment’ for the segment you want to activate.
5) based on the value of your holdings, you will be asked to upload your income proof.

if the value of your holdings > ₹5k: income proof will not be required.
if the value of your holdings < ₹5k: income proof will be required. you can upload your bank statement, itr, or salary slip. kindly follow the clear instructions mentioned based on the income proof type selected.
6) for mcx, you will also be asked to upload a live photo and geolocation, as shown below-
7)lastly , sign your documents: e-sign if mobile & aadhar are linked.
you can esign your application with the following steps.
click on the ‘esign’ button.
it will redirect you to the validation esign page. click on
esign now.
it will redirect you to the confirmation page, where you have to verify your document and you have to digitally sign the document by clicking on
sign now

at the bottom of the page.
after clicking on the
it will redirect you to the nsdl website where you will have to enter your aadhar number and you have to
tick on the checkbox,
also click on send otp you will receive an otp on the aadhar linked mobile number.
enter the otp and click on verify otp
once you verify the otp you will receive the successfully signed confirmation page. here, “do not close the window, it will close automatically.”
8) once your request is placed successfully, it will take about
24-48 working hours

for your segments to get activated. we will be informing you over email / sms about the status of your request.
: your mobile number registered with aadhar should be active while you are proceeding with the above steps.
if aadhar is not linked with your active mobile number you can simply download the form.

please sign and courier it to us in the address given in the below screenshot.
below is the detailed list of documents you can upload as income proof:
: request you to please check the document before uploading to avoid rejection of the request.
bank statement: the bank statement must have the bank's logo or stamp on it and also your name, bank name, bank account number, and the ifsc code
a mini statement or m-banking statement will not be accepted.
the bank statement should be of the latest 6 months.
the bank statement should have a minimum closing balance of ₹10,000
please note

: we don't accept payments bank (such as paytm) and nri banks on individual resident account as bank proof
most recent income tax returns (form 16 - part a & b)
most recent (latest month’s) salary slip.
latest 1-month payslip if the salary is more than ₹10,000 with company logo and stamp/signature
latest 6 months payslip if the salary is less than ₹10,000 with company logo and stamp/signature

kindly follow the below steps to add the segment
1)login to the upstox app using your 6-digit pin or biometrics
2)once you have logged in,
click on avatar/ name initial on the top left corner of your screen
3)click ‘account’, and then click ‘profile’.
4) click ‘my trading segment’ under ‘accounts’. it will redirect you to the segment activation page.
5) click on the ‘activate segment’ for the segment you want to activate.
6) based on the value of your holdings, you will be asked to upload your income proof.

if the value of your holdings > ₹5,000, income proof will not be required.
if the value of your holdings < ₹5,000, income proof will be required. you can upload your bank statement, itr, or salary slip. kindly follow the clear instructions mentioned based on the income proof type selected.
7) for mcx, you will also be asked to upload a live photo and geolocation.
8) lastly, sign your documents: esign if mobile & aadhar are linked.
you can esign your application with the following steps:
